Halloween, Scream, Hellraiser Games Could Be Happening

by Tim Turi on Mar 25, 2011 at 09:20 AM

Today the Weinstein Company announced an alliance with Beefy Media to bring its big name film franchises to your favorite video game platforms. The films highlighted by the press release include horror hits like Halloween, Children of the Corn, Scream, and Hellraiser. It also mentions Scary Movie

Bob and Harvey Weinstein formed Miramax in 1979, then went on to launch Dimension films and the Weinstein Company. They’ve got Inglorious Basterds, Grindhouse, and Spy Kids under their belts, so there are lots of other interesting properties that could be potentially be crafted into games.

Beefy Media is a video game production company that has worked heavily with Capcom. Their resume is a mixed bag - containing winning downloadables like Final Fight: Double Impact, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, and Marvel vs. Capcom 2, while clunkers like Dark Void and Bionic Commando sour their gameography.

We’re excited to see what this business deal could mean for the inconsistent horror genre. Just let me play as Michael Myers for an entire game, please. Thanks.
