Weekend Warrior 03/18/11

by Annette Gonzalez on Mar 18, 2011 at 02:00 PM

This weekend members of the Game Informer staff will attempt to break a Guinness World Record for longest fighting game marathon. What are you playing this weekend?

Tim: Super Smash Bros. Brawl. That’s not just the game I’m playing this weekend, it’s actually the only thing I’m doing for over 27 hours straight. We’re attempting a Guinness World Record for longest fighting game marathon, and this Nintendo brawler is our ticket. Hopefully my insatiable thirst for great video game music will compensate for the fact that I am a terrible, terrible loser and throw hissy fits when I’m smash-attacked into oblivion (don’t tell Dan, Ben, or Jeff please).

Jeff C: Breaking a world record.

Dan: Breaking a world record.

Annette: I'm working on a couple of review games this weekend: The 3rd Birthday and the new Chime on PSN. Also, I'll be dropping by the office to watch my friends try and break a world record or whatever.

Ben Hanson:
I’m a Pixar geek. I have spent many a night staring at the ceiling worrying that Cars 2 will shatter Pixar’s winning streak. Despite this, I have never played the lauded Toy Story 3 game. I’m hoping to check it out this weekend. The only problem with this plan is that a majority of my weekend will be spent watching a game rather than playing. I’m going to be filming the Super Smash Bros. Brawl marathon play session in the GI office. Brawl is one of my favorite games, so I’m hoping that my love for the series can survive this retina-bleeding 27-hour marathon. I also have the urge to play through Knights of the Old Republic again, I will see if I can squeeze it in. Show me your moves.

Jeff M: This weekend I plan on watching my sleep-deprived co-workers descend into madness on Ustream, in between naps and lazy gaming sessions of Torchlight in the comfort of my living room.

Sean: The only things video game related I will be doing this weekend is making another appearance on the Game Informer Online Radio podcast and helping witness the Guinness World Record attempt. The rest of the time will be spent prepping to move back to the south.  Will miss everyone, online and offline, thanks for the memories.

Jeff A: Totally and completely obsessed with Mass Effect 2. Although, I’m a little perturbed by how few of your original crew re-ups in the second installment. The handling of the whole Liara situation rubbed me the wrong way. Was it all for nothing?! So yeah, good times. Other than that, it’s March Madness. What else needs to be said? Exactly.

That's it for us. What are you doing this weekend?
