Electronic Arts Pulls Plug On Crysis 2 Demo For PlayStation 3

by Matt Bertz on Mar 18, 2011 at 08:00 AM

Citing performance issues, Electronic Arts and Crytek decided to abandon the PlayStation 3 multiplayer demo on the eve of the game's retail release.

After several people complained of excessive download times and connection issues, the company issued the following statement on its website:

"Thank you for your interest in the PlayStation 3 version of the Crysis 2 multiplayer demo. Though many gamers have had a great experience playing the demo, we are aware that others have been experiencing server connection delays. We’ve identified the root cause and have decided to close the PS3 demo in the next 24 hours to ensure all issues are resolved when the game launches next week. Our priority is to ensure that the final product is flawless at launch."

Though this is a blow to anyone hoping to check out the game over the weekend, the good news is PlayStation 3 owners won't have to wait long to get their Crysis 2 fix. The game hits store shelves for PS3, PC, and Xbox 360 next Tuesday.
