Hank Chien Destroyed His Own Donkey Kong Record

by Bryan Vore on Mar 11, 2011 at 07:32 AM

Twin Galaxies just verified that current Donkey Kong world record holder Hank Chien just beat his former score by a wide margin, leaving Billy Mitchell and Steve Wiebe in the dust.

Chien's new record was accomplished on February 27 at the Funspot arcade in New Hampshire on the arcade machine from The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters. His score of 1,090,400 points was verified by Twin Galaxies today, towering over his former record of 1,068,000.

"I took about a one month break after my score in December," Chien said to Twin Galaxies. "I actually find taking regular breaks very helpful. It’s very easy to get burned out and frustrated with Donkey Kong. If I take a long break, I’ll be itching to play. Nothing is fun if you have to force yourself to do it."

Check out Twin Galaxies' full interview on the company's website. Be warned, the site looks like it's straight out of 1994. Click on Hank Chien's head under "More Headlines To Read" to see the interview.
