Weekend Warrior 02/18/11

by Annette Gonzalez on Feb 18, 2011 at 02:00 PM

The snow is finally starting to melt in the Midwest! Still you may find most of us inside playing our favorite games. What are we playing this weekend? Read on to find out then add your gaming plans in the comments section!

Kato: I’m not actually planning on playing a lot of video games this weekend, believe it or not. Going to watch a fair amount of hockey on TV, hoping to read a bit of Game of Thrones, and hoping to practice some guitar. Oh, and I’ve got a family as well. Of course, when I say I’m not really going to play games this weekend, I imagine I will anyway in some form or another.

Tim: With Dead Space 2 behind me, this weekend will be dedicated to exploring another outer space adventure pitting a lone, armored survivor against an alien race. I’ll be playing Super Metroid! It’s my first time playing it (don’t ask how I missed out on it), and it’s still great!

Jeff M: For the past couple weeks I’ve said that I wanted to finish Dead Space and play more Oblivion. Invariably, I do neither. So this week I’m definitely not going to say that this weekend I want to finish Dead Space and play more Oblivion. Let’s see just how well this reverse psychology concept works…

Annette:
Got my hands on a copy of Dance Paradise that I'm checking out for review this weekend. Another dance game on Kinect? Sure, why not. Dance Central is a tough act to follow, but we'll see. Also revisiting the first Dead Space in order to roll right into the second one. Even though I already know what's about to happen in certain areas, it still scares me every time.

Ben Hanson: This weekend I will venture back into the competitive world of Battlefield Bad Company 2 on PS3. I’m Yozetty_ if you want to play. Seeing Battlefield 3 reminded me of just how much I love that series. I will also continue my replay of Mass Effect 1. I’m loving the PC version’s interface, and this time I’m fully aware of the fact that Ashley is a monster capable of horrific acts. If I have time, I’m also planning  to revisit Hill Valley in the second episode of the excellent Back to the Future game. Oh, and Super Scribblenauts! I think that sequel was a bit overlooked. Any game that features God battling dinosaurs is A-ok in my book.

Sean: I finally finished off Mass Effect and Dead Space 2 last week, so now I’m laser focused on Mass Effect 2. I also picked up an Ace Attorney game I ignored (it wasn’t Phoenix Wright!), Apollo Justice. The rest of the time will be spent playing Tales from Space: About a Blob with my son and wading through humorous doll puzzles in Stacking. Also, in case you haven’t been told before, Mass Effect 2 is incredible.

That's it for us! What are you doing this weekend?
