PS2 Sales Hit 150 Million Worldwide
Late last year the PlayStation brand celebrated its 15-year anniversary, and now the PlayStation 2 has reached its own epic milestone – 150 million units sold.*
According to Sony, the system reached this high watermark as of January 31, 10 years and 11 months after the system's initial release in Japan in March 2000.
*Of course, the news isn't without an asterisk. The number refers to "sold-in," which is the number of units sold to retail channels. What percentage of that number has been sold to actual consumers is unknown. Still, we bet it's a huge-ass number. Besides, Sony is supporting the PS2, so it's only a matter of time...
