MLB 2K11 Looks Like A Real Baseball Game, Unlike 2K10
Art director Heather Marshall compares several players and stadiums from last year's game to this year's upcoming edition and points out the striking differences in this dev diary.
As much fun as we can make of MLB 2K10 (which is a lot, trust us), the images from 2K11 look honestly good. That's won't stop us from quoting Marshall's best 2K10 slams from the dev diary out of context, though:
"In the past, our players have sported a zombie-like, wide-eyed expression."
"Their faces are rounder and their noses and eyes don’t fit together on the face to sell the likeness of the player."
"When the camera pans out to see your player run the bases, he’ll maintain his shape rather then popping back to an average size body, as was the case in 2K10."
It's all in good fun. You can't make any progress without acknowledging your current problems, and the side-by-side screenshot comparisons do Marshall's talking for her quite effectively.
The gameplay has a long way to go to catch up to Sony's MLB The Show series, but it's encouraging that 2K Sports seems to be putting serious effort into closing the visual gap.
