by Jeff Marchiafava on Feb 10, 2011 at 08:30 AM

Metacritic has revealed its list of the top publishers of 2010, based on the ratings each company received for the games it published last year. Let's take a look at what earned Take-Two the top spot.

Take-Two was propelled into the number one spot by solid offerings from its 2K Games, 2K Sports, 2K Play, and Rockstar Games labels. The publisher released 19 titles in total last year. The Xbox 360 version of Red Dead Redemption received the highest aggregate score (95) for the company, while the Wii version of Major League Baseball 2K10 received the lowest (52). Take-Two did not release a single title that scored below 50 for the year. The average Metascore for Take-Two's offerings this year was an impressive 77.1. Nintendo was the only other publisher to have an average Metascore above 75; its score of 76.1 nabbed the company second place.

Metacritic compiled another list for mid-size publishers that released less than 15 games during the year. Telltale Games won hands down, with an average Metascore of 78.4. You can get the full breakdown for the year over at Metacritic.
