Sony's Subpoenas Search For PS3 Hackers

by Matthew Kato on Feb 08, 2011 at 03:35 AM

Sony is continuing its legal pursuit of the PlayStation 3 root key hackers. The company is already in a legal battle with George "GeoHotz" Hotz, who published the PS3 root key, but Sony is now trying to uncover members of the fail0verflow hacking team.

Sony has sent out subpoenas to companies like PayPal, YouTube, Twitter, Google, and more requesting ID info on Fail0verflow team members in an attempt to track them down and go after them legally. In general, a Sony court document "disputes whether Hotz has disclosed all relevant facts" about his work.

Stay tuned for more developments.
