New Power Rangers Games Coming

by Matt Miller on Feb 04, 2011 at 09:34 AM

Namco Bandai says it has acquired the rights to create and publish upcoming games in the long running series. The announcement comes just a few days before a new TV series starts next week. This one is completely different from the 16 series that came before.

Nah. Just kidding. We're pretty sure that Power Rangers Samurai will continue the grand tradition established by Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Power Rangers Zeo, Power Rangers Time Force, Power Rangers Dino Thunder, and all the rest. In a barely perceptible alteration of the formula, a team of five rangers control fire, water, sky, forest, and earth powers. With the help of some giant animal zords, they'll fight an evil mastermind in increasingly world-threatening scenarios.

However it works out for those multicolored rangers, we can now expect that Namco Bandai will have some games to further their adventures.

“As we kick off the year as the new Namco Bandai Games, strategic partnerships are a key focus for us," Namco Bandai's vice president of marketing Carlson Choi said in a press release. “Under this new partnership, I look forward to leveraging our strengths and capabilities with Saban Brands to increase our mutual reach with high quality game content.  We are definitely excited to bring the Power Rangers series under our roster of titles.”

If we said, "It's morphin' time!" would that date us at all?
