Square Enix Sales Down 28 Percent

by Bryan Vore on Feb 03, 2011 at 09:46 AM

Square Enix released the financial details of its first three quarters of its fiscal year and the results are not ideal.

Sales dropped 28 percent from last year to ¥98 billion ($1.2 billion) with profits dropping 77 percent to ¥1.8 billion ($22 million).

Square Enix president Yoichi Wada issued the following statement in response to the release:

"Responding to intensifying competition in the console game market, the company has implemented organizational changes in the third quarter while also working to better select and further strengthen our most competitive titles."

Even though the company didn't reference it directly, the rough release of Final Fantasy XIV certainly didn't help this most recent quarter.
