Sony Putting Move Dev Tools Into The Hands Of The Public

by Matthew Kato on Feb 01, 2011 at 03:37 AM

Despite its ongoing battle with PS3 hackers, Sony looks like it will be giving homebrew developers insight into its Move motion controller at GDC.

A session listing for the Game Developers Conference at the end of this month entitled "Update on PlayStation Move Development" by Sony promises to "discuss the new Move Server project that will make it possible for academics and hobbyists to develop software using the PlayStation Move controller on their own PCs."

While it's doubtful how much development on this level will trickle down to the average consumer, it's never a bad idea to stoke the fires of creativity, especially given responsive motion technology in the peripheral.
