Having trouble with your game save on the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2? A fix is in the works along with a few other tweaks.

On the BioWare forums, Chris Priestly has posted details of a patch that could be submitted to Sony as soon as tomorrow. It's anybody's guess as to when Sony will release it to the world, but here's what gamers can expect:

Patch Notes
-Fixed a crash related to memory fragmentation. This fix will also resolve the crashing that corrupted Save Games.
-Slightly improved load times and level streaming.
-Added some telemetry to better improve future titles.
-Updated some strings to fix spelling mistakes (Sorry Kaidan!)
-Fixed the picture frame in Shepard’s Cabin to accurately reflect your love interest choices in Mass Effect: Genesis.
-Fixed a rare crash in the PSN version in Shepard’s Cabin.

If you still want to play in the meantime but are fearful of encountering the bug, Priestly offers the following suggestion:

"There is a very simple work around to ensure the freezing and corruption issues are minimized. Simply restart your game every few hours. By shutting down and restarting your game, you will not encounter the corrupted save issue.”

Hmmm, it's not ideal, but at least this is an option.
