Clash of the Titans Director Makes Dead Space 2 Documentary

by Matt Helgeson on Jan 25, 2011 at 09:55 AM

French director Louis Leterrier's Clash of the Titans did blockbuster numbers, and showed a distinct video game influence. That was no coincidence -- the filmmaker is a gamer, and one of his favorites is EA's Dead Space 2.

To pay tribute to the game, Leterrier has filmed a four-part behind-the-scenes documentary about the making of the game.

“I was a fan of the film Dead Space – I always refer to the game as a film." said Leterrier. "I wanted to meet the people who developed the game, to see how they worked, go behind the scenes. [With video games...] We can really do things that are totally creative, totally artistic, things that provoke an emotion within the viewer/player and create something that’s absolutely visceral.”

Clips from the first three parts of the documentary have been posted, courtesy of the French site Allocine. It's an interesting look into the making of a modern horror classic. Note: this was made for French TV, so there is are some parts that are only in French (especially in the second clip) but most of it is either in English or has English subtitles.
