John Romero Is Making Social Games

by Joe Juba on Jan 20, 2011 at 09:15 AM

John Romero is one of the co-founders of id Software, and has some industry-defining games to his name – all of which were released in the '90s. His projects since have been far less impressive, and his latest venture into social gaming isn't likely to win back his former following.

Romero and fellow id Software co-founder Tom Hall have formed a new studio called Loot Drop, which has signed a deal with RockYou for a new social game. Unless you play awful Facebook games, you've probably never heard of RockYou, but the company will publish and maintain Loot Drop's new project after development is complete.

No details about the game are currently available. We'd say "Oh, how the mighty have fallen" about Romero's decision to delve into Facebook development, but we already said that after Daikatana.
