Steel Diver Info Emerges From The Deep
Man your battle stations: We have information on Nintendo's upcoming submarine combat game for the 3DS.
Steel Diver is a 1 to 2-player action game in which players take command of a submarine to defeat enemy subs, dodge deadly depth charges, and battle giant sea monsters -- naturally. Players can choose between three different subs, and will use the touchscreen to adjust your dive angle, zoom level, and fix leaks in your hull. Most of the game is played as a 2D sidescroller, but one mode uses the 3DS's built-in gyroscope to mimic a submarine's periscope, requiring you to move your entire console through the air as you look for your submersed enemies. Whether Steel Diver will rise to the top of the 3DS's launch lineup, or implode like Michael Biehn's sub in The Abyss is a burning question we will have to wait a bit longer to find the answer to.
