Mass Effect 2 On PS3 Is 'Not A Simple Port'

by Jeff Cork on Jan 12, 2011 at 10:00 AM

A cynical person might think that at this stage in Mass Effect 2's lifespan, those responsible for bringing the game over to the PlayStation 3 would be content with dumping it over to the platform in a straightforward port and then resuming their work on Mass Effect 3. According to BioWare, though, that's not what's happening.

According to a post by BioWare's community coordinator on the PlayStation Blog, the game has been rebuilt to a degree with the PS3 in mind. "The Mass Effect team has taken the time to utilize the PS3 hardware to the fullest in order to maximize your gameplay experience," wrote Evil Chris Priestly. "It was also extremely important for the team to make sure playing with the PS3 controller worked and felt good. You will also see that the in-game graphics and cinematics are clearer and more vibrant on the PS3."

Priestly then adds that the game will include Mass Effect 2's Overlord, Lair of the Shadow Broker, and Kasumi DLC missions. The game goes on sale January 18, in both retail and downloadable formats. Hey, you don't even have to get dressed to pick it up!
