Weekend Warrior 01/07/11

by Annette Gonzalez on Jan 07, 2011 at 01:00 PM

It's the first Weekend Warrior of the year! Now that we've fully recovered from the holiday rush we plan on kicking back with our favorite games this weekend. Which ones? Read on to find out, then add your gaming plans in the comments section!

Jeff C: Well, let’s see. First, I need to wrap up Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom. It’s been pretty fun so far, though I can’t stand the Majin’s dumb voice. It’s a good thing that he talks all the freaking time. Anyway, after that I’ll probably play some more Pinball FX 2 and try to reclaim some of my old leaderboard positions. Keep in mind, those are generally the fourth or fifth spot. Jeff Marchiafava and Reiner kind of ruined that game for us all. Jerks.

Bryan: I just stayed up until nearly 4am playing Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood so I imagine I’ll be investing in that some more this weekend. Having an assassin squad at my disposal is awesome!

Ben R: Vegas!

Tim: This weekend I hope to further my new Blood Elf Mage in World of Warcraft. I also hope to finally find some damned coal in Minecraft! If more space opens up I want to crack into Amnesia, Black Ops, and Splosion Man.

Annette: Tonight I'm going to Video Games Live with a few of my fellow co-workers so I plan on enjoying some awesome tunes. As far as the next couple days, BioWare had a killer sale on Mass Effect 2 DLC over the holiday so I downloaded Overlord, Lair of the Shadow Broker, and Kasumi - Stolen Memory. I intend on digging into the extra content. At 200 MS Points each it was a total steal. Finally, with the addition of Kinect in my apartment I plan on getting off my behind and playing some more Dance Central for a good cardio workout. That game never gets old.

Jeff M: This weekend I’m probably going to forgo the giant pile of new games I got for Christmas and return to Oblivion. I’ve played the game for more than 60 hours now, and haven’t done much besides max out my Sneak and Alchemy skills by breaking into peoples’ homes and stealing all of their food. It’s kind of like Les Misérables, only awesome!

Dan: My girlfriend is out of town, so I think I’ll be staying in and playing games all night. I’d like to put a huge dent in the backlog of retail and XBLA/PSN games that I’ve had sitting around. Might do a trivia night on Sunday, but otherwise it’s gonna be a lot of lounging around for the most part.

Phil: In addition to playing more Two Worlds II for review, I’ve jumped back into Dragon Age: Origins. With a limited number of new releases this month, I figure it’s a good time to go back and finish up BioWare’s epic RPG, which I sunk around 15 hours into this summer before getting distracted by other stuff. Oh, and on Saturday night I’ll be doing some dungeon runs and preparing for Cataclysm raiding with my World of Warcraft guild.

Ben Hanson: This weekend I'm hoping to play more of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit. I am also planning on spending 30 minutes or so staring at the title screen of Super Meat Boy contemplating whether or not to sink dozens of hours going for the 100 percent. After waiting seven years, I am finally going to start playing Pikmin 2… no spoilers, please. I know that I promise this to myself on a weekly basis, but I am also looking to get back into StarCraft II. Sean and I are trying to convince Phil the pacifist to start playing multiplayer with us, but we may need the heckling of readers to put him over the edge.

Jeff A: I’m still playing the same fricken games I’ve been plugging away at for the past month or so. Chrono Trigger on the DS has me captivated. I’m nearing the end and look to hopefully have it all wrapped up by the end of the weekend. And can I just say, what an amazing game. Not that most people don’t know that by now. I’m also going to try and get through a little more Assassin’s Creed II. I’m traipsing around in Venice right now. Absolutely loved obtaining the seal in St. Mark’s Basilica. Beautifully rendered. Almost as good as the real thing. Other than that, it will be a weekend full of NFL playoff football and Inception on Blu-ray. Good times.

That's it for us. What are you playing this weekend?
