Panasonic Delivers Casual Games Directly To Your TV

by Ben Reeves on Jan 05, 2011 at 12:45 PM

In 1994, Sega Launched Sega Channel, a defunct service that streamed games directly to TVs. The idea didn’t pan out for Sega, but that doesn’t mean it was a bad one. Maybe Panasonic and Oberon Media can do better.

Oberon Media and Panasonic just announced a deal which would see Oberon’s TV-themed casual game service, I-play TV, brought to Panasonic’s line of Viera HDTVs. Oberon Media is one of the largest casual game distributors, and for only $4 a month, subscribers of I-play TV are able to play games like Dream Day True Love, Avenue Flo: Special Delivery, and Echoes of the Past 2: The Castle of Shadows.

Has anyone ever heard of these games? We're not sure if this is a good deal or now. It sounds like you’ll also be able to play Tetris through the service, so if you don’t already own seven copies of the game, you’ll be set.
