Chat With Friends Using Avatar Kinect This Spring

by Ben Reeves on Jan 05, 2011 at 07:10 PM

Sometimes you just don’t want people looking at you while you’re chatting (i.e. all the time). This spring, Microsoft’s Avatars will reach another level of expression thanks to a new Xbox Live chat system called Avatar Kinect.

Microsoft will launch Avatar Kinect this spring, a new avenue that allows Xbox Live users to connect and share information with their friends. Microsoft’s Kinect unit will receive an update that allows it to register users facial expressions and transpose them onto their Xbox Live Avatar. Users will then be able to take their Avatars into chat rooms and gossip with all their friends as well as send Facebook updates to those off network. The software will launch with more than 15 setting for users to lounge around as they chat with their BFFs.

Avatar Kinect will be free to all Xbox Live Gold members. Check out the screens and trailer below.
