Braid Developer: PSN More "Artful" Than Xbox Live Indie Games

by Matthew Kato on Dec 22, 2010 at 05:41 AM

Braid developer Jonathan Blow has voiced his opinion of how Sony handles indie games versus Microsoft.

The indie game came out for both the PSN and Xbox Live Arcade, and Blow shared his opinion of working with both sides to Edge. "Microsoft has provided the lower barrier to entry with Xbox Live Indie Games, but most of them are not very good. I don't think that's a controversial statement."

In contrast, he says that Sony is "actually looking for games that are artful or experimental." "XBLA is more conservative than PSN, but it still has a larger audience so it's much more commercially feasible as long as you can get noticed – which is getting harder over time, but is still possible." Although Blow says that games like Super Meat Boy have survived and gotten noticed, Blow believes, "the majority of games released on XBLA recently, most of them tank, they lose money."

What do you think of the offerings on XBLA and PSN?
