Full-Game Trial Of MAG On PSN Tomorrow

by Joe Juba on Dec 20, 2010 at 12:12 PM

To celebrate MAG hitting "greatest hits" status, Sony is dropping the price of the game down to $29.99 and putting a free trial up for PlayStation Plus subscribers.

According to the PlayStation Blog, PlayStation Plus subscribers can access the free "full-game trial" on December 21, which allows them to play side-by-side with people who actually bought the game. Sound too good to be true? Here's the catch: trial players will have a level cap of 8. While hitting level 8 is enough to unlock the 256-player mode, it isn't enough to see much more of what the game has to offer. However, if you keep playing the trial after you hit level 8, all experience you gain will be tracked and subsequently applied if you decide to upgrade to the full version.

Free stuff is nice, but since you have to pay to subscribe to PlayStation Plus, the trial isn't without a cost. Do you think promotions like MAG's full-game trial are enough to justify a PlayStation Plus subscription?
