by Annette Gonzalez on Dec 18, 2010 at 08:30 AM

With the release of Windows Phone 7, Microsoft has been pushing the idea of bridging the gap between their mobile and console platforms with features like Xbox Live Anywhere that lets you connect with friends on the online gaming service via phone. Now in an effort to attract 360 users to their mobile platform, Microsoft is offering a free game to folks who purchase a Windows Phone 7 over the holidays.

If you pick up a new Windows phone eligible for the offer (Samsung Focus, LG Quantum, HTC Surround, HTC HD7, or Dell Venue Pro) you'll get one free Xbox 360 game. Included in the offer are Halo: Reach, Fable III, Kinectimals, and Kinect Joy Ride. You can buy the phone from any retailer carrying these models. Offer ends December 31.

Will the sales associate hand you the game at time of purchase? Of course not. That's way too easy. To claim your game you'll have to submit a copy of your receipt, complete a form (available here), and the UPC. You can find all the glorious details here
