Pachter Says GTA V Coming In 2011 Or 2012

by Jeff Cork on Dec 14, 2010 at 03:16 AM

Even with the release of L.A. Noire on the horizon, people can’t stop speculating about when Rockstar will deliver the next installment in its wildly successful Grand Theft Auto series. Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter has been leading the charge for some time now, saying back in June 2009 that GTA V would be coming by the end of 2010. A quick glance at your game collection will probably be an indication that it didn’t quite make that window. That’s not stopping Pachter from making another guess.

In August, he said that players (or more importantly to his audience, investors) shouldn’t expect to see GTA V until 2012. Now he’s fudging a bit, leaving the possibility of a 2011 release open as well.

“We are confident that Take-Two will release GTA in either 2011 or 2012,” he wrote, adding that BioShock Infinite should be hitting in 2012 as well. Pachter added that it’s likely that Take-Two and Rockstar will wait to announce the game until the middle of 2011, either via Take-Two’s March earnings report or at E3.
