Flower Creator Plays Smurf Village

by Ben Reeves on Dec 10, 2010 at 10:10 AM

Jenova Chen is the co-founder of ThatGameCompany. He spends his days creating innovative titles like FlOw, Flower, and Journey. And he spends his nights playing Facebook games like Smurf Village. He also cheats at them.

Chen recently told Kotaku about his fascination with Capcom’s licensed Farmville clone. Instead of paying for Smurfberries that would speed up the harvest of all his crops, Chen changed the time settings on his iPhone/iPad, which also sped up the harvest time of his crops. “Once I figured this out it became a very simple game," he said. "It's a very fun game when you cheat. It's a very short game that has a lot of feedback and I like to see all of that."

Chen went on to say that he would have happily paid to get the game without all the built-in time sinks. Anyone else played this title? It’s interesting to see that even game developers can get hooked on Facebook games.
