Two Kinects Combined To Create Improvised 3D Camera

by Tim Turi on Dec 02, 2010 at 08:30 AM

Kinect experimenter Oliver Kreylos is at it again. This time he's combined two Kinect sensors to create a 3D camera effect. You need to overcome your jealously over this guy having two Kinects and just watch the fascinating footage.

In uniting both Kinects, Kreylos finds that there is some infrared interference between the units, but that they do a good job of filling in the gaps for one another. As evidenced in this video, he can rotate completely around the object, even though he's missing one-third of the whole picture. I'd love to see what he could do with another sensor.
