New BioWare Teaser For Mass Effect Multiplayer Spin-off?

BioWare released just a single image yesterday taken from a split second of video footage that teases a new game announcement. Internet rumor and anonymous sources may shed light on what it's all about.

Kotaku cites a "development source" in a report that claims the new game is a multiplayer-focused Mass Effect spinoff in development at BioWare Montreal. Further speculation points toward a Call of Duty-style player progression and an additional single-player element that doesn't star series hero Commander Shepard.

We'll know one way or the other on December 11 when the full trailer appears on the Spike Video Game Awards.
