LEGO Pirates Set To Sail The Seven Seas

Hinted at in an official LEGO display at SDCC, It appears that Jack Sparrow will officially be joining Batman, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones and a slew of Star Wars staples in the realm of minifigs.

Disney Interactive, TT Games, and The LEGO Group joined forces today to announce LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game.

“Pirates of the Caribbean is a globally successful franchise based in action, adventure and humor perfectly suited for a LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game adaptation,” said Graham Hopper, executive vice president and general manager, Disney Interactive Studios. “Combining the excitement of playing as Jack Sparrow and other recognizable characters from the franchise will make the game fun for players of all ages throughout the world.”

The game will pull canon from the first three Pirates films - Curse of the Black Pearl, Dead Man’s Chest, and At World’s End - in addition to the pending fourth installment, On Stranger Tides. Over 70 characters are promised via 20 levels, and two-player co-op mode will return.

Lego Pirates of the Caribbean will hit retail in May 2011 for the PS3, 360, PC, Wii, DS, and PSP, coinciding with the theatrical debut of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
