Bizarre Creations Finds Potential Buyers, Possibly Microsoft

by Annette Gonzalez on Nov 17, 2010 at 10:05 AM

Yesterday news broke out that Liverpool-based Bizarre Creations was getting shut down by owner Activision (with employees receiving a three-month notice). A statement released by the publisher later revealed that it is exploring options for the Blur developer that include a potential sale. Things are looking up for Bizarre Creations, as it appears other companies are interested in scooping up the team.

An anonymous source from inside the studio gave Develop details of a management meeting with staff: "That meeting really lifted the mood here, I think, because we’ve been told that there’s multiple parties interested in buying us."

“We are still on consultation for ninety days,” the source said, “but things look much better than they did last night or this morning.”

The source obviously didn't reveal the companies interested in picking up Bizarre Creations, but later admitted that Microsoft showed some interest.

“Microsoft aren’t stupid,” the source explained, “they know we’re talented and have spoken to Activision about us.”

The fate of Bizarre Creations and its staff of 200 is still unknown, and we wish the talented team the best of luck.
