LucasArts Hit With Layoffs
Earlier today reports circulated around the Web regarding Activision and its potential sale of Bizarre Creations and closure of Budcat Creations (Wii, PS2 Guitar Hero dev studio). Now it appears another studio is in for a tough holiday season: Star Wars dev LucasArts.
Unnamed LucasArts sources say the studio is facing layoffs again after 85 had been cut in September. This was after The Force Unleashed II was released.
LucasArts released a statement: "LucasArts recently made a minor adjustment in staffing to help us better address the needs of the business. We remain committed to our internal studio – and to fostering relationships with trusted external partners – in order to deliver quality games that amaze and inspire fans."
Sounds like the act of pushing a dev to create a game and then cutting them lose post-release is trending. Hopefully all the talented folks who lost their jobs find greater opportunities.
