Tecmo Koei CEO Quits Amidst Financial Chaos
The past six months haven't been good for Tecmo Koei. Sales for the company are down by double-digits – 27.5 percent – and the games division posted a $19.7 million loss. Surely as a result, CEO and president Kenji Matsubara has resigned for "personal reasons."
The company blames the downturn on delay of Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll (shown above), which is scheduled to come out later this month in Japan and sometime in 2011 here in America, as well as the fact that a bunch of money is tied up in future development.
Back before TGS we did a quick news story on the company's lineup at the Japanese convention, and although there were a number of Japan-only releases, it was obvious that the Tecmo side of the company wasn't really pulling its weight. Perhaps this contributed to a weak roster of games and may point to a stronger lineup in the future.
