Reader Discussion: Who Won The Motion Control War?

by Tim Turi on Nov 07, 2010 at 05:31 AM

This generation of video games is unified by one thing - motion control. Nintendo led the charge with a new way to experience games, allowing gamers to swing their controller to participate in gameplay. After the Wii blew up with amazing sales, Sony and Microsoft took notice. PlayStation 3 followed suit with a magic wand device of their own with Move, and Microsoft ditched the controller all together with Kinect. Hopefully you've tried all three by now. So... who do you think did it best?

Are Nintendo's games the best because they've been working with motion control the longest, or is their tech too outdated compared to Sony and Microsoft?

Did Sony's focus on the tactile feel of a controller and having buttons help, or did it just end up feeling too much like Wii HD?

Is the controller-free gaming of Kinect responsive and fun enough to please hardcore gamers?

So tell us, in terms of gameplay quality, who won the motion control war?
