Capcom's Profits Are Down, But Sales Are Up
Capcom announced its financial results for the first half of the 2010 fiscal year today, and the results are a mixture of good and bad news. The sales are up, but the profits are down.
The report calls out Dead Rising 2 and Super Street Fighter IV as performing well, along with Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes. However, it also points to the disappointing performance of Lost Planet 2, indicating that Capcom was expecting much more from the title. Overall, compared to the same time last year, sales increased 4.7 percent.
With good sales, why are profits down? Capcom says that the sharp appreciation in value of the Japanese yen is responsible. There you go: just blame the economy.
