Sega Bringing Captain America To Console

He’s fought Hitler, the Red Skull, and his own terrible ‘80s film, but now Captain America will be battling for yous dollars on consoles next year when Sega releases Captain America: Super Soldier.

Anyone who’s read the comics or played the Marvel: Ultimate Alliance titles knows that Cap’s shield is a versatile weapon, and Sega isn’t planning on messing with that mechanic. Cap’s shield can be thrown to take out multiple enemies at once, will deflect incoming fire back at his foes, will come in handily while solving puzzles, and will even help Cap scale walls.

The game’s original story is being penned by noted comic, film, and TV writer Christos Gage – current writer for Marvel’s Avengers Academy series. Considering Sega's track record with Iron Man maybe we should be worried, but it looks like The Next Level (the team behind the recent Punch-Out!! title) has its hands on this one, so our hopes are up.

It looks like next Summer’s Captain America film is set to release in July, so look forward to playing the game on PS3, 360, or Wii around the same time.
