PS3 Jailbreak Software Integrated Into DualShock
In response to Sony's recent PlayStation 3 firmware update that blocks USB jailbreaking, someone on the Internet has found a workaround by tweaking a standard controller. No one in the world is surprised about this.
Someone under the name "hasuky" has hacked a DualShock to enable it to run open source jailbreak program PSGroove. It's not the simplest process, but the programmer was able to do it by installing the program into a PIC (some kind of "microcontroller") and soldering that into the DualShock. Check out the poorly translated guide here to see how it was done.
While it does take some skill to perform this operation, it does make you wonder how Sony will respond. Can it figure out a way to disable only the modified controllers while leaving the normal ones untouched?
