Reader Discussion: What's Your Favorite Multiplayer Memory?

by Dan Ryckert on Sep 25, 2010 at 10:00 AM

Multiplayer is a bigger part of gaming than ever before. By the time this year ends, gamers will have played dozens of hours of massive FPS titles like Black Ops and Halo: Reach, excellent co-op experiences like Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Dead Rising 2, and party-friendly new installments of Guitar Hero and Rock Band. While we all love sitting down and getting wrapped up in lengthy single-player experiences like Oblivion or Mass Effect 2, many of our best memories as gamers have come when we're not alone. Whether it was late night Goldeneye 007 sessions, intense rounds of Mortal Kombat or Soul Calibur, playing Counterstrike until your eyes were red, or even some time with (shudder) Mario Party, multiplayer is a permanent and ever-growing institution in the gaming industry.

With decades of multiplayer games behind us, what would you pinpoint as your absolute favorite multiplayer memory? It could be a specific game, mode, or even one crazy moment that blew you away. My personal pick is Goldeneye 007. What's yours?
