Capcom: Competitors Are Going To Copy Dead Rising 2: Case Zero

by Bryan Vore on Sep 24, 2010 at 06:55 AM

With over 500,000 sales in two weeks, Capcom calls the downloadable prequel "the most dynamic sales weapon we have ever had in our arsenal, giving us the equivalent exposure of a multi-million pound TV campaign."

The above quotes come from Capcom UK product manager Karl Reader in speaking with MCV. Even though Dead Rising 2 isn't out until Tuesday, Capcom isn't holding off on the bragging. And the publisher shouldn't, really. It essentially found a way to make a pay-for-play demo for an upcoming title that didn't come off as a shill-fest to consumers.

“We foresee other publishers will follow suit," Reader says. "With increasing development budgets and increased risk, several smaller projects is only sensible. What we are seeing is a precursor to episodic gaming with Capcom at the helm.”

Who wants to see more games come out with pre-release content like Case Zero?
