Global Agenda Offers APB Sympathy, Loots Corpse

by Matthew Kato on Sep 18, 2010 at 12:20 PM

By nature, shooters are aggressive, violent affairs, but that doesn't mean there isn't a streak of compassion every now and again. Hi-Rez Studios, developer of Global Agenda – an MMO/Shooter (shown above), is mourning the loss of competitor APB and its "bold vision" by offering fans a discount on Global Agenda.

From now until September 30, you can get a 30 percent discount on Global Agenda (go to the website for more info on the deal). Todd Harris, the game's executive producer, has an open letter on his blog where he states: "The last few years have been rough for many fans of the shooter/MMO genre. Several innovative game titles with great communities have folded as they sought to bring together those of us who enjoy the fast-action, intense pace of a shooter, but also the character progression and persistence offered by MMOs. Today, we mourn our latest fallen colleague, APB. In making APB, Realtime Worlds had a bold vision to make an MMO devoid of traditional tab-targeting, cast bars, and die-roll combat. We honor their effort and innovation, and greatly mourn the game's closing."

While we don't doubt that Harris & co. have sympathy for the developers over at Realtime and like APB, they also stand to gain from its demise. Regardless of whether this is like looting a corpse or not, why not go have some fun shooting fools with Global Agenda at a discount price?
