Muramasa, Odin Sphere Getting High-Def Downloadable Ports?

by Phil Kollar on Sep 15, 2010 at 06:30 PM

Developer Vanillaware was doing gorgeous old-school 2D games long before that became a major trend in the industry. Now it sounds like their two most recent releases, Odin Sphere (originally on PlayStation 2) and Muramasa: The Demon Blade (originally on Wii), may be going HD and downloadable on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

According to a rumor being reported by 1UP, multiple sources have informed them that both Odin Sphere and Muramasa will receive HD downloadable ports. The sources have not specified what platforms the games will appear on, but 1UP speculates that they'll make it to both PS3 and Xbox 360.

Among the info gathered from the mysterious sources, it sounds like Muramasa's assets were actually originally created in HD, making an HD port a relatively painless process. Odin Sphere may take a bit longer.

If this rumor is real, Tokyo Game Show seems like as good a place as any for the announcement to happen. We'll keep our ears open and report back as soon as we hear anything official.
