How Much Cash Did Halo Reach Bring In On Day One?
During Microsoft's Tokyo Game Show press conference, Microsoft Game Studios' corporate vice president Phil Spencer touted Halo Reach's day one sales, saying the title has already brought in $200 million. Spencer also pointed out that Reach is the fastest selling game of 2010. It also bested Halo 3's one-day gross of $170 million.
This is great news for the video game industry, and Bungie and Microsoft respectively, but this day one haul doesn't come close to touching Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's enormous $401 million one day feat. Grand Theft Auto IV also brought in over $300 on its launch day.
Movie companies release box office reports every day. I'd sure like to see the video game industry do the same thing.
