PopCap Announces Korean MMO, Inexplicably Draws Disneyland Comparison
PopCap is expanding its casual-games empire in an unexpected way. Later this year, the company will release PopCap World in Korea, which will combine a social-networking hub with 13 of the company's games – including a new one, Super Zuma, developed specifically for the Korean market. PopCap World will be operated by NCsoft.
“When Disneyland first opened, it revolutionized the amusement park industry and ushered in the era of the modern theme park," said James Gwertzman, PopCap's vice president for asia/pacific. "In the same way, we believe PopCap World has the potential to redefine casual games in Korea and beyond by offering players the most immersive PopCap experience yet."
The game will be free to play, though premium paid elements will be available later.
