Mario has officially been around for a quarter of a century now, starring in dozens of games. What better way to celebrate the mustachioed plumber's birthday than to argue about which Mario game is the greatest of all time?
Super Mario 3 is the favorite Mario game of most of the staff here at GI -- you can check out our new Super Replay of the whole game to see why -- while a few old-school editors champion the original SMB due to its undeniable influence on gaming. Some of the younger staff members prefer Super Mario World, but I'm going to go ahead and pick Super Mario Bros 2 as my personal favorite, even if it is the b*stard child of the series. What can I say? I liked the new art style and music...
