Cryptic Comet Announces Next Indie Game: Six Gun Saga

by Adam Biessener on Sep 11, 2010 at 04:09 AM

Vic Davis's Cryptic Comet has gotten a lot of love for his first two projects, Armageddon Empires and Solium Infernum. Davis just announced his next game, which is a marriage of board game aesthetics and PC multiplayer like his previous titles. Six Gun Saga is a card-based strategy game set in the Old West.

"It will remind you of some games like Race For the Galaxy, Dominion and of course Poker," Davis teases. Similarly to RftG and Dominion, cards have multiple uses. Each can be put into play, cashed in to pay to put another card into play, used for a special action, or used as part of a poker hand in combat resolution. Six Gun Saga will also have mechanics for moving posses around and engaging your opponents' forces in classic Western shootouts. A round of Six Gun Saga is intended to take less than an hour, though you can tweak that by customizing the end conditions -- point totals, kill limits, or a turn limit.

Name-dropping two of my current favorite board games like that has me 100% on board. Davis hopes to have Six Gun Saga ready in a few months. If it's along similar lines to his previous games, it'll have a demo and cost between $10 and $20 and be cheap at twice the price.
