Dungeon Siege III Trailer Showcases Hacking, Slashing

by Adam Biessener on Sep 03, 2010 at 08:28 AM

Obsidian has released a new trailer for its upcoming console action/RPG. Dungeon Siege III looked solid at Gamescom, and the one-versus-many gameplay teases in this video call to mind Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance more than the old Dungeon Sieges.

With local two-player co-op  (though Obsidian was coy in not dismissing online or four-player play), Dungeon Siege III is a more typical action/RPG than the AI-driven dungeon crawls of its predecessors. To that end, the combat is more involved than picking a target and unleashing skills. We saw a warrior seamlessly switching between sword-and-board and two-handed combat stances, chaining multiple attacks together into devastating assaults.

A second character will reportedly be with you through most of the story, and can be controlled by a buddy via drop-in, drop-out co-op.

Dungeon Siege III is currently listed as releasing some time in 2011 on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
