New Super Mario Game Revives The Classics

by Matt Miller on Sep 02, 2010 at 07:00 AM

Nintendo has confirmed a new Wii Super Mario game – but its content remains a mystery.

Japanese gaming blog andriasang is reporting on a brand new Super Mario game that will release on October 21st, at least in Japan. Nintendo typically releases their products in the States as well, so we can cross our fingers that the game will come here.

The game, Super Mario Collection Special Pack, shares the Japanese name of the game that was called Super Mario All-Stars in the United States. All-Stars was an awesome update of the NES era Mario games into 16-bit detail for the SNES, including Super Mario Bros. 1, 2, and 3, as well as the previously Japanese exclusive "The Lost Levels".

This new collection for the Wii could be the exact same game released for the Wii. Our greater hope is that it is those games, plus the Super Mario World games, all updated with Wii graphics. Sure, it's a stretch. But we can dream, can't we?

We'll keep you updated as we hear more about this tantalizing new project from Nintendo.
