Apple Game Center Coming Next Week
It's no secret that Apple is becoming a big player in mobile gaming. At today's Apple press conference, Steve Jobs bragged to the audience that the iPod Touch outsells the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP combined. He also revealed Apple's anticipated Game Center app for iPhone and iPad will launch next week alongside the iOS 4.1 update.
Game Center operates like a mobile Xbox Live, a hub for players to set up multiplayer matches, track achievements, and check their standing in the leaderboards. Given the iPhone's large market saturation, this revelation certainly overshadows Microsoft's recent announcement that Live Anywhere will be included with all Windows Mobile 7 phones.
