What To Expect From StarCraft II Patch 1.1

by Joe Juba on Aug 28, 2010 at 08:30 AM

Blizzard has a reputation for meticulously balancing its titles, and that process continues well after a game has released. Now that StarCraft II has been out for a month, Blizzard is discussing the changes on the way in Patch 1.1, which will be available in mid-September.

According to Blizzard's site,  these are just a few of the things you can expect to change when the patch hits:

-Support for NVIDIA's 3D Vision
-Standard (US) and Standard Lefties (US) hotkey options will be available in all regions
-Friendly units won't provide vision after being killed (and previously revealed enemy units will not be targetable)
-Zealot build time increased from 33 to 38 seconds
-Warpgate cooldown increased from 23 to 28 seconds
-Reaper build time increased from 40 to 45 seconds
-Bunker build time increased from 30 to 35 seconds
-Siege tank damage changed from 50 to 35, +15 vs. armored
-Battlecruiser damage against ground units decreased from 10 to 8
-Ultralisk damage reduced from 15, +25 vs. armored to 15, +20 vs. armored
-Ultralisk building attack (Ram) removed

Almost all of the changes seem to reduce the power of certain tactics, like the zealot rush. On the gameplay front, it looks like nerfs all around.

What do you StarCraft II fans think of the changes in store?
