Sony Doesn't Think Move Will Be An Instant Hit

by Jeff Marchiafava on Aug 26, 2010 at 09:30 AM

Sometimes corporate executives get so excited about an upcoming product that have unrealistic expectations about how interested the public will be in them. Not Sony. While senior vice president Ray Maguire believes the PlayStation Move will win over gamers, he doesn't expect it to happen overnight.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Maguire said the company expects a sales trend similar to the EyeToy for PS2.  "Am I expecting a massive day one? Not particularly. We didn't with EyeToy, either. It went on to be massively successful. As people saw the value when they tried it they told their friends. Their friends bought it. They told their friends. Word of mouth grew the marketplace. That's what I expect from Move as well."

Move will only impress players if the games are good, though. What should you expect? Check out the next issue of Game Informer for our reviews of some of Move's launch lineup.
