Sony: Digital-Only Future Within Ten Years "Extreme"

Are you a champion for Sony's ill-fated digital-only handled, the PSPgo? Have you been hoping that by the time the PlayStation 4 releases that you'll only have to worry about your bandwidth and not the width of your physical media shelf? According to Sony CEO Kaz Hirai, the digital-only crusade isn't happening anytime soon.

“We do business in parts of the world where network infrastructure isn’t as robust as one would hope,” Hirai told MCV.

After stressing that Sony will always need physical media, he added that “To think everything will be downloaded in two years, three years or even ten years from now is taking it a little bit to the extreme.”

I don't find it too alarming that a digital-only frontier is still several sunsets away, but the fact that Hirai admits that the PSPgo was premature is a kick in the pants to brazen supporters of Sony's handheld.
