Realtime Worlds Reveals User Stats For APB Amidst Sales Talk

by Bryan Vore on Aug 24, 2010 at 06:50 AM

Scottish developer Realtime Worlds is trying to sell itself rather than completely shut down. In a move to show potential investors what they could be buying into, the company is putting out the first official stats on how APB is doing.

APB has 130,000 registered players averaging around four hours a day of play per person. The average player pays about $28 per month when figuring in game time and marketplace trading. If you multiply the number of players versus the average pay-in, it comes to just over $3.6 million per month. That's a long way to go before Realtime Worlds breaks even with APB's reported $50 million development budget.

Resident Game Informer PC expert Adam Biessener offers the following commentary: "These numbers aren't horrific in and of themselves, but factoring in APB's eight-figure development budget, it's hard to see how they add up to anything other than a financial disaster for Realtime Worlds."
